The long-life bearings using NTN Corporation’s (hereinafter referred to as NTN) ‘HA-C’ special heat treatment technology won the ‘Mechanical & Robot Parts Award’ in the ‘2025 Super Component Manufacturing Awards’ organized jointly by the Japan Manufacturing Conference and Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.
The ‘HA-C’ is NTN’s unique special heat treatment technology. By dispersing a large number of hard fine precipitates in the material, it gives the bearing an extremely high surface hardness, thereby enhancing the bearing’s lifespan, wear resistance, and foreign matter resistance.
The ‘HA-C bearing’ can achieve a smaller and lighter design while ensuring lifespan, making it suitable for various automotive applications such as the core driving components of electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) e-Axle, as well as transmissions and compressors for HEVs and conventional fuel vehicles, contributing to the miniaturization, lightweight design, and energy efficiency of automotive parts.
The ‘HA-C bearing’ not only extends lifespan but also improves wear resistance and resistance to foreign matter. In the automotive industry, the gradual adoption of low-viscosity lubricants to improve fuel and electric energy efficiency can lead to issues such as short bearing lifespan, easy wear, and foreign matter entering the bearing. The ‘HA-C bearing’ can effectively address these challenges.
